The Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA) has organised  a workshop with different stakeholders dealing with Gender Based Violence and human rights to discuss and strategically plan how to curb the acts of GBV in the country.

In a statement TAMWA said the one-day workshop that will be held through the Crisis Resolving Centre - CRC is the continuation of the 16 Days of Activism, the National Campaign for women and children, especially girls which started on 25th November and ending on December 10th, 2015, in collaboration with the Social workers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, gender desks, judges and community members.
The workshop is happening during the campaign with the National theme “FUNGUKA; Mlinde Mtoto Apate Elimu” linked to the incidence of gender based violence that girls have been gone through in particular failing to secure their basic rights for their development whereas stakeholder will use their experience to discuss and plan strategy to use to reduce the GBV.
TAMWA believes that gender based violence especially for girls can end if everyone would be educated to overcome the harm traditional beliefs since they violate the human rights and impede developments of children especially for girls, families, community and the national at all.
TAMWA event is funded by the United Nation Population Fund – UNFPA an organisation that has been at the forefront in defending the rights of girls through TAMWA, has been campaigning for gender based violence including female genital mutilation and ending child marriage by educating the community to eliminate harm traditions.
