 The government is determined to continue creating a  conducive environment that would stimulate business and investments  growth as a step towards increasing its revenues collection.
Executive Committee Chairman of Tanzania National Business Council  (TNBC) and Chief Secretary, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue said the Fifth Phase  Government under Dr John Magufuli is all out to ensure that government  revenues are collected or paid by businessmen.
“We will continue improving business and investment environment by  removing bottlenecks yet widening our tax base,” Ambassador Sefue was  briefing journalists over the weekend on what transpired during  President Magufuli’s meeting with members of Tanzania Private Sector  Foundation (TPSF) held at State House in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.
He said President Magufuli assured the private sector that business  and investment environment would be improved to encourage more  investments so as to boost the government coffers.
“The government is working very closely with the private sector for  the growth and betterment of the country,” said, warning that rules and  regulations will not be compromised.
Expounding further about the meeting, Ambassador Sefue said  President Magufuli told the business community that the fifth phase  government has confidence in the private sector as the engine of  economy.
“There is no doubt that businessmen are friends of the government  since the two sectors (public and private) depends on each other,” he  said, noting that the president wanted the private sector to be honest  and pay taxes.
He said members of the private sector commended the president’s  initiatives and promised full support in his endeavors towards bringing  socio-economic development of the country.
Earlier, the TNBC Executive Secretary, Engineer Raymond Mbilinyi  said it was the high time for regional and district business councils to  ensure that the pace of improving business environment was doubled and  stimulate growth to people.
“These business councils must work very hard and unleash business  and investment opportunities which are of abundance,” Eng Mbilinyi said,  adding TNBC has been well positioned to tackle the challenges.
According to the TNBC chief his council has of recent been  promoting business and investment opportunities existing at border  regions and if fully utilised they can change people’s lives.
“There are so many business and investment opportunities in our  district councils such as tourism, agriculture, fishing and several  others,” he explained. 
Speaking at the same occasion, the Executive Director of TPSF,  Godfrey Simbeye said the meeting was fruitful for the private sector  since President Magufuli pledged to work with the private sector.
“This is a good beginning and we are very optimistic and confident  in President Magufuli who is now the Chairman of TNBC,”  Simbeye said,  noting that TPSF and all its members rally support behind him.
He said few days since President Magufuli took office has won confidence locally and internationally.
