The votes have been
cast in elections across the UK - but the results will be coming in at
different points over the next three days. Here is how to keep on top of
it all.
Full guide to the electionsDeclarations in Scotland and Wales are expected overnight on Thursday, and during Friday in Northern Ireland. The majority of English councils will count overnight on Thursday into Friday, but results will continue to trickle in until Sunday. There are also police and crime commissioner elections, which cover England (except London and Manchester) and Wales. These results for these will mostly be on Friday, with Welsh constabularies declaring on Sunday. Follow up-to-the-minute results for:
- the Scottish Parliament
- the Welsh Assembly
- the Northern Ireland Assembly
- English councils, and
- police and crime commissioners

Follow the action on the BBC
An election special starts at 23:45 on BBC One, presented by Huw Edwards, with coverage throughout the night as results come in. On BBC Radio 4, Jim Naughtie and Anna Foster present an election special from midnight.
All the latest developments are on the BBC politics website, with rolling updates on the Election Live page.
There are also dedicated programmes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and BBC local radio will be at council election counts across England.
The BBC News Channel will be running continuous coverage - and the results programme will be back on air on Friday ay 12:00 on BBC Two and the News Channel until 18:00, with a break between 13:00 and 14:00.
How the results will unfold (all timings are estimates)
Overnight - Thursday, 5 May
About 80 English council results are expected overnight, with the first already in. Initial results from the Scottish Parliament have also come through - with all 129 seats expected to declare overnight02:15 First results from the Welsh Assembly - results in all 60 seats expected overnight
03:00 - 05:00 The results of the two Westminster by-elections in two safe Labour seats, in Ogmore, South Wales, and Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, in South Yorkshire.
Results of the Wiltshire Police and Crime and Commissioner election and Liverpool Mayoral election are also expected overnight
Friday, 6 May
Mid-morning - early evening: First results from around 50 councils in England that are planning to declare on FridayAfternoon: First results of the London Assembly election
17:00 First preference vote share information for elections to Northern Ireland Assembly
18:00 Result of first preference votes for Mayor of London. Final results are on Friday evening, but the declaration has run late at previous mayoral elections.
Nearly all of the Police and Crime and Commissioner results should be known by the end of Friday.
