UVCCM urges funds for youth projects, praise cabinet.

CCM Youth Wing (UVCCM) has challenged the government to ensure the implementation of Sh50m in each ward for youth projects is implemented as was promised by President John Magufuli during the polls campaign.

Senior officials of the youth wing assert that the new cabinet also consists of young people which should improve the atmosphere of implementing pledges made by the candidate for funds to benefit the youth.

Concerns by the youth wing come amid recollections that the previous government made similar pledges for Sh50bn for each region for youth-based projects “which did not seem to help the public,” according to UVCCM officials.

Egla Mamoto, the secretary for Policy, Mobilization, Research and Communication at UVCCM, told reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the government must invest in the youth if acceptable pace of development is to be realised.

“In order to get rapid transformation in our society, the government must ensure that young people are given priority in implementing different projects as they the basis of national labour power.

Young people suffer to get rid of economic doldrums for a long time, so they are seeking from the new cabinet the chance to participate in managing various youth projects, she said.

“We are impressed by the choices President Magufuli made for his cabinet as for a long time we have struggled to seek that youths are given a deserving place in higher positions. Now the dream has come true, and therefore we are very happy,” she declared.

UVCCM has congratulated on Dr Magufuli on his new cabinet that was picked on the basis of professionalism without discrimination, she said.

Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam Chief Sheikh Alhad Mussa Salum has urged Tanzanians and all Muslims to support Dr Magufuli in his current efforts as well as the new cabinet.

Sheikh Salum explained that all ministers that the president has appointed have to ensure that they work hard so as to go in line with the overall governance strategy the president has adopted.

He also used that opportunity to inform Muslims on programs related to Maulid Day which is expected to be on December 24 at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds. The ceremony will start at 8pm and the following day the Maulid Baraza where President Magufuli is expected to be the guest of honor.
